Section 1 - Statement of Purpose
Raid Nazgrel exists to provide a non-guild oriented raiding platform for casual gamers playing World of Warcraft on the US server named Nazgrel, alliance faction. We intend to provide logistics, leadership, and strategy to any individuals who pursue and maintain good standing in our organization without regard to their guild status.

Raid Nazgrel Values
Raid Nazgrel pursues it's mission with the following values always in mind.

  • World of Warcraft is a game, its design and intent is entertainment. As such, our primary value is fun for all attendees.
  • We endeavor to be fair and honest in all of our dealings, both inside and outside our organization.
  • We provide an atmosphere void of all pretension and without lording our achievements over others.

Section 2 - Leadership Structure
Raid Nazgrel (hereafter, RN) will maintain our operations with a small number of individuals called RN Leaders. These individuals all share an equal stake in all decision making processes. RN Leaders provide these services to others on a completely volunteer basis, and hold their post until such time that they choose to resign, or are asked to leave by majority vote of remaining RN Leaders. All decisions are made by continual discussion and communication, until such time that a consensus is reached. If consensus is not possible, any change of significant importance must be made with a two thirds vote. The following operational decisions do not fall under this rule, and can be made at any time by any RN Leader.

  • Inclusion (whitelisting) or exclusion (blacklisting) of individuals, further details below.
  • Any decision relating only to the raid currently underway.

Joining the RN Leadership
Any RN Member may petition to join the RN Leadership by sending an official, written (electronic) request to a RN Leader, including why they would like to be one and what they could bring to the leadership. At which time the current RN Leaders will put the matter to vote in the forums, and if two thirds or more agree, the member is elevated to the postion of RN Leader.

Retiring from the RN Leadership
Individuals who wish to step down may do so at any time. Individuals who do so retain all privileges they previously had, and are encouraged to participate when ever possible. Any retired RN Leader may vote on any measure before the RN Leadership, and for the purposes of the measure they voted on, are considered a part of the RN Leadership.

Section 3 - Membership Structure
RN Leaders will collectively maintain two lists, a roster (or whitelist) and an exclusion list (blacklist). These documents will be maintained on the RN Nazgrel web site, and will be updated as quickly as possible with changes. Any person not on either of these lists may apply for membership in RN, provided they fill out all information requested on the web site. Any applicant may be accepted by any RN Leader. That RN Leader, after accepting that member, should then immediately put that individual on the roster.

The exclusion list will be maintained and updated with individuals that do not share our values, or are in some way disruptive or offensive to the organization as a whole. Generally speaking, individuals on the exclusion list will be former members who have failed to maintain good standing with RN. The exclusion list is not meant as a punitive measure, it purpose is to ensure continued successful raids and organizational process.

The process by which one becomes blacklisted is as follows. A RN Leader posts the individuals name on the web site's exclusion list, and then sends a private message to all other RN Leaders through the web site. Another RN Leader will then ban the user account from the member portion of the web site. After which the blacklisting is official. If any RN Leader has any questions or concerns about the process, they can ask for further clarification at their leisure. In addition, the blacklisted member has continued access to a special forum where they can refute their exclusion from RN. If, an exclusion is questioned, a discussion will be called for, and the decision will be made by the RN Leaders, this can occur at any time in the process or after.

Applicants who do not meet our standards, or withdraw their application before acceptance, will have their application voided. A voided application does not preclude an individual from applying again, however, RN asks that individuals do not re-apply again for at least 30 days.

Section 4 - Raid Structure
Raids under the RN system adhere to the following structure. One RN Member (preferably a RN Leader) volunteers to proctor the raid, and another volunteers to be the loot master. All decisions on progression, strategy, end and start time are made by the proctor. Proctors may make use of other members of the raid to assist with marking, strategy explanation, or other matters.

The Loot Master is responsible for maintaining the list of all loot above rare (blue) quality, and to award that loot to members of the raid based on loot rules defined further below. After the raid, the proctor and/or loot master typically post an After Action Report (AAR). The AAR will include a short summary of the run, including loot gained, bosses downed, attempts made, and other events.

Raid Signup
RN Raids are all handled through a signup process on the RN forums. Once a raid signup is posted, individuals reply to that post, and the proctor then takes those individuals on a first-come first-serve basis, and plugs them into the raid slots based on their spec. RN Members are preffered over non-members. All raid signups will follow a similar structure, such as this example:

Raid Sol: Hogger

Date and Time(s):
Friday 2/20
    Invites - 8:15-8:30
    First Pull - 8:30-8:45

    Port - 4263
    Password - No Password
    Channel - Sol

New Raids
Raids under the RN system are self advocating. Originally, a raid is set up by an RN Leader who sees a demand for a raid at that time. They post the raid signup and designating a name for the raid (traditionally RN Raids are named after celestial bodies.) If the raid proves successful, the RN Leadership will continue to post the raid signup each week. A named RN Raid will always raid the same instance at roughly the same time. If the raid does not have enough signups to run, or is unsuccessful for some other reason, the signup will still be posted each week. Once a raid is established, it will advocate for itself until such time that the RN Leadership chooses (usually based on lack of demand) to retire the raid. Retired raid names can be used again only if there is no potential for confusion.

Section 5 - Loot Distribution
RN strives to distribute loot earned from raids as fairly as possible. All RN Raids are run with the loot options set to loot master, and the rarity set to rare (blue) level. This means any blue or better item that drops (and is not a group loot item) will be distributed by the designated loot master. Random 100 rolls will be used for all RN Raids. (/roll, /rand, or /roll 100.) Loot masters follow these guidelines when awarding loot:

    1. The loot master posts in raid all items dropped.
    2. The loot master then determines who can roll for the first item.
    3. Once the members allowed to roll for the item has been determined, the loot master calls for rolls.
    4. If no one designated by the loot master wishes to roll, then it will be opened up to characters that can make use of the item for an additional set.
    5. If there is no one interested in the item, the item will be disenchanted. Anyone interested in a shard can roll, alternatively, if the Loot Master wishes, shards can be held until the end of the raid.
    6. If the item produces multiple shards then the highest rolls will win 1 shard each.
    7. If there is no enchanter in the raid then the item will be rolled on by anyone interested in its vendor value.
    8. The process is repeated from steps 2-8 for all items dropped. The loot master announces who wins the roll and then gives the item to the winner.

Any questions and concerns should be directed to the Loot Master with an in-game whisper. Loot should not be discussed in vent or raid channel. Errors will be corrected in as timely manner as possible, however it is the Loot Master's responsibility to do so.

Signed,
RN Leadership
